  NE India Adventure Sports

'Barak Festival’ is a signature event of the KRC Foundation. It will be organised at Silchar from 10-12 January every year. This year the theme of the Festival is NE India Adventure Sports, Art & Culture Promotion’

 

Adventure Sports with five distinct activities namely Trekking, Obstacle Negotiation, Spot Climbing, Disaster Management Technique and Water Sports are part of the ‘Barak Festival 2025’  

 

The objective is to create an effective disaster management force and to prepare the youth with skills to face the challenges of the world. Adventure sports help build a level of confidence and sense of purpose in one’s life and stay connected with nature.


Trekking

A one-day trekking trail at the Borail range is being organised from 1st week of January 2025.

 

The trekking trail campaign is designed to incorporate a sense of adventure, and shall provide the participants with the skillset and experience of mountain manners, respect for forest, cleanliness, trekking and negotiation skills, team building and camaraderie; courage and endurance exercises.

 

The trekking trail will also provide a camping experience and a cultural event at the camp.

 

The trekking trail will also have various cash prizes, certificates and medals which will be given on 12th January 2025.


Methodology: 

A team will consist of mix of people comprising age, location, education, physique, experience etc.

 

Students from Class IX onwards are eligible to participate in the One-day trekking trail campaign.

Family can also join the trekking trail campaigns.

 

Fees: 2500 (inclusive of 18% GST), Food not included. 


Participation Rule:

 

·    Food should be brought by the participants

·    Anyone with any prior medical conditions should not participate without the consent of their physicians.

·   The trekking trail activities have been designed with utmost care so that no untoward incidents happen, however, it is the responsibility of the participants not to take any unguided steps or adventurisms.

·    No mobile phone will be allowed while trekking. Official photographer/videographer will record the event and shale be shared on our Facebook page/WhatsApp group for participant’s personal use.

·     The guidelines and instructions of the trainer/instructor/guide have to be followed by the participants.

·     All participants will receive a certificate of participation 


Awards & Prizes:

 Five different awards for each trekking group will be given:


1.     Best team award: Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.5000

2.    1st Trekker: Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.1500

3.    2nd Trekker: Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.1000

4.    3rd  Trekker: Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.1000

5.   KRC Foundation NE Adventure Award: Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.2000     

      and Surprise Gifts

Exhibition and Participation@Adventure Sports

Obstacle Negotiation

Obstacle negotiation is a very interesting activity that will be showcased in the Adventure Sports exhibition on 11th January 2025 at Barak Festival

Participation: 

One can also participate in obstacle negotiation. In this segment one can expose their talents and abilities to negotiate various physical obstacles, and hazards through their integrated presence of mind and physical fitness/abilities/skills

 

Various obstacles that can be participated are:

·        Trazan swing

·        Ladder Rope

·        Balancing bar

·        Stepping wooden Log

·        Tyre passing

·        Zig Zag balancing bar

·        Monkey-style passing

·        Crawling

·        Slide ring

·        Rappelling (Part of the Trekking Trail Campaign)

Surprise Gifts: 

Participants can win surprise gifts depending on their performance in the activities.

 

The obstacle negotiation is designed to test the endurance capabilities of participants as well as to use the mental, physical and gut feelings to face any adversaries. These activities provide a sense of realisation of using one’s body, mind and spirit to adjust with natures abundant possibilities.

Participation Fees: Rs. 100 per obstacle

Certificate: All participants will receive a certificate of participation

 Sport Climbing

Sport Climbing is an exciting activity that will be showcased in the Adventure Sports exhibition on 11th January 2025 at Barak Festival

 Major Attraction:

The sport climbing is an introduction to an activity that many would want to experience but has never tried. This is done through the supervision of experts from rock climbing background and is completely safe to perform as it is performed with the help of technical gears.

 

This is one of the major attraction of Barak Festival 2025 that one can experience for the first time in the region.


Participation 

One can also participate in Sport Climbing. In this segment, one can expose their abilities to face heights with confidence and check their skills of negotiating the climbing experience.

 

Here one need not be an experienced climber but can be a ‘first timer’ to experience a climbing spree.

Surprise Gifts

Participants can win surprise gifts depending on their performance in the activities.

2. 2nd  Climber Prize (on achieving 14 feet) : Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.7000

3. 3rd  Climber Prize (on achieving 12 feet) : Medals, Certificate and Cash prize of Rs.5000

4. KRC Foundation NE Adventure Award: Medals, Certificate, Cash prize of Rs.2000 and Surprise Gifts + Training    for future competition 

5. KRC Foundation NE Adventure Award: Medals, Certificate, and Surprise Gifts  + Training for future competition.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE

A display of Disaster Management Techniques by the team of experts drawn from various organisations providing Disaster Management awareness and practical training.

 

There will be an awareness campaign that will continue around the year by the KRC Foundation in the region.

 

The objective of the movement is to create a Disaster Response Force in the NE region under the Adventure Sports initiative.


Participation Fees: Nil


Water Sports 

A display of Water Sports activities by a team of experts drawn from various organisations for awareness and practical training.

Techniques like saving lives from drowning,  disaster response during floods, temporary boat-making techniques, and boating.   

 

There will be a boating race exhibition and competition in River Barak as a part of an awareness campaign to sensitize people on the 'Water Conservation and Save River Campaign' 


There will be an awareness campaign that will continue around the year by the KRC Foundation in the region.

 

The objective of the movement is to create a Disaster Response Force in the NE region under the Adventure Sports initiative.
