Peace Convention on Manipur Issue


Peace Convention on Manipur Crisis at Silchar, Cachar, Assam held on 13th August 2023 (Sunday).


In view of the conflict situation in Manipur and its potential effect across NE India, Barak-Manipur Friendship Association {an initiative of Knowledge Resource Centre Foundation (KRC Foundation)} is organised a ‘Peace Convention’ at Silchar, Cachar to sensitise people, take suitable resolutions and apprise Government of India & other stakeholder


In the peace convention, various organisations of South Assam were invited and representatives from Manipur had also joined to discuss, and share the real stories from the ground.

Audio- video presentation was showcased at the convention and a document detailing the sequence of events, articles, opinions, facts, thoughts and way forward etc. is being published for mass circulation (print & digital copy). 

The day-long peace convention was attended by intellectuals, scholars, NGOs, and students of Barak Valley.

The event was covered by local, national and regional media.

Many participants had put across valued opinions and suggestions to bring about peace and progress in the state. Many had contributed articles for publication.

The sole objective of the convention was that our state of Manipur and NE at large move towards peace, progress and development.

At this trying time we wish all the citizens who lost lives and have become homeless our deepest empathy and any contribution we can make towards bringing lasting peace shall be our only prayer and intentions.

Outcome:

The 20 point resolution was taken at the peace convention and was sent to various stakeholders.


A campaign for relief materials collection for Manipurs’ displaced people was started in Barak Valley region of Assam
